A. =20 Campground=20 Hosts

Campground Hosts=20 serve primarily as public relations liaisons providing information, = assisting=20 with

Rent-A-Camp and = performing other=20 assorted functions.

Examples of=20 duties include:

=B7 = Welcoming=20 campers.

=B7 = Acquainting visitors with = the park=20 and surrounding area. =

=B7 = Explaining regulations to = visitors.

=B7 = Light maintenance work = (e.g.,=20 replacing light bulbs, weeding, etc.).

=B7 = Sweeping, monitoring = conditions of=20 and stocking restrooms.

=B7 = Setting a good example by = maintaining a neat & orderly campsite.

=B7 = Reporting necessary = repairs to park=20 staff.

=B7 = Assisting with special = programs and=20 campground activities (see Special Events below)

=B7 = Assisting in the = Camp = Office (e.g. telephone, filing, = etc.)=20

=B7 = Cleaning up campsites and = fire=20 rings on your road(s).

Campground Hosts=20 are initially contracted for a 28-day period. If their service is=20 satisfactory,

new contracts may be = negotiated at the=20 park manager's discretion to cover = service=20 up to

a = maximum of=20 three months between=20 April 1 and October 31.

Hosts=20 typically work in the park five days a week (including weekends = and=20 holidays),

an average of four hours = per day.=20 Reduced schedules may be arranged = depending=20 upon

the=20 operational needs of the park as determined by the park=20 manager.

Campground Hosts=20 must provide their own camping equipment and they receive a free=20

campsite in return for services=20 provided. The location of the site is=20 at the discretion of

the = manager.=20 The site should be identified by a campground=20 host sign which is available

from = the park=20 manager.

While on duty,=20 Campground Hosts wear a Volunteer ball cap or visor, and nametag which are =

furnished = free of=20 charge by the park. Campground Hosts are = considered "on=20 call" while they are

in residence at the = campground.=20 During the days a host is not scheduled to work, the campsite may =

be = left=20 unoccupied, although camping equipment should = remain.

A = number of=20 parks utilize individual volunteers in a variety of ways. Some = individuals=20 perform special

service projects, others present = beautification projects while yet others provide assistance in = conducting=20

various park events. =

E. =20 Green=20 Teens

Green Teens=20 are 13 to 17 years old and may serve as individuals or as part of a group (e.g., nature club,

biology = class,=20 etc.) They must have a minor liability waiver = form and a=20 volunteer contract signed

by their parents. Green Teens need not be accompanied by = parents or=20 legal guardian when volunteering.

They receive=20 a Certificate of Appreciation for their service.

F. = Junior=20 Volunteers

Junior=20 Volunteers are individuals aged 5 to 12 years old, serving with parental = approval along with a

waiver/release form and individual = contract=20 signed by parents. Junior Volunteers must be accompanied=20

by = their=20 parents or legal guardian=20 while volunteering, and parents are responsible for their supervision.=20

Junior=20 Volunteers may not volunteer during regular school hours, and breaks or = rest=20 periods must be provided.

Volunteer=20 Contracts

The contracts for = Campground Hosts,=20 individual and group volunteers specify the=20 benefits to which each

volunteer = is=20 entitled. In addition, each completed and signed = contract is=20 the official document necessary

to qualify the volunteer = for Worker's=20 Compensation coverage in case of injury. Any old, outdated contracts =

cannot = be=20 substituted. The contracts are valid for a maximum of=20 two years with the exception of Campground

Hosts=20 which run for up to=20 seven months at the discretion of the park manager. = Contracts=20 must be = renewed by=20

the volunteer and park = manager for=20 continuation in the program. = Green Teens=20 and Junior Volunteers are

signed-up = as=20 individual or group volunteers, with a = completed minor=20 waiver of liability form attached to the contract.
