A. Campground Hosts
Campground Hosts serve
primarily as public relations liaisons providing information, assisting with
Rent-A-Camp
and performing other assorted functions.
Examples of duties
include:

Welcoming
campers.
·
Acquainting
visitors with the park and surrounding area.
·
Explaining
regulations to visitors.
·
Light
maintenance work (e.g., replacing light bulbs, weeding, etc.).
·
Sweeping,
monitoring conditions of and stocking restrooms.
·
Setting
a good example by maintaining a neat & orderly campsite.
·
Reporting
necessary repairs to park staff.
·
Assisting
with special programs and campground activities (see Special Events below)
·
Assisting
in the
·
Cleaning
up campsites and fire rings on your road(s).
Campground Hosts are
initially contracted for a 28-day period. If their service is satisfactory,
new contracts may be negotiated at the
park manager's discretion to cover service up
to
a maximum of three months between April
1 and October 31.
Hosts
typically work in the park five days a week (including weekends and holidays),
an average of four hours per day.
Reduced schedules may be arranged depending
upon
the operational needs of the park as determined by the park manager.
Campground Hosts must
provide their own camping equipment and they receive a free
campsite in return for services
provided. The location of the site is
at the discretion of
the manager. The site should be identified by a campground host
sign which is available
from the park manager.
While on duty,
Campground Hosts wear a Volunteer ball cap or visor, and nametag
which are
furnished free of charge by the park. Campground Hosts are considered
"on call" while they are
in residence at the campground.
During the days a host is not scheduled to work, the campsite may
be left unoccupied, although camping equipment should
remain.

D. Parkwide Volunteers
A number of parks
utilize individual volunteers in a variety of ways. Some individuals perform
special
service projects, others present
beautification projects while yet others provide assistance in conducting
various park events.

E. Green Teens
Green Teens are 13 to 17
years old and may serve as individuals or as part
of a group (e.g., nature club,
biology class, etc.) They must have a minor liability waiver form and a
volunteer contract signed
by their parents. Green Teens need not be accompanied by parents or
legal guardian when volunteering.
They receive a Certificate
of Appreciation for their service.
F. Junior Volunteers
Junior Volunteers are
individuals aged 5 to 12 years old, serving with parental approval along with a
waiver/release form and individual contract
signed by parents. Junior Volunteers must be accompanied
by their parents or legal guardian while
volunteering, and parents are responsible for their supervision.
Junior Volunteers may
not volunteer during regular school hours, and breaks or rest periods must be
provided.
Volunteer Contracts
The contracts for Campground Hosts, individual and group
volunteers specify the benefits to which each
volunteer is entitled. In addition, each completed and signed contract is
the official document necessary
to qualify the volunteer for Worker's
Compensation coverage in case of injury. Any old, outdated contracts
cannot be substituted. The contracts are
valid for a maximum of two years with the exception of Campground
Hosts which run for up to seven months at the
discretion of the park manager. Contracts must be renewed by
the volunteer and park manager for
continuation in the program. Green Teens
and Junior Volunteers are
signed-up as individual or group volunteers, with a completed minor
waiver of liability form attached to the contract.
